About Me

My name is Daniel Wilhelmsen and I am a motion graphic artist and web designer. My passion is creating creative, unique and fun videos, animations and websites.  I love to take someone’s spark of an idea and sculpt it into something beyond their highest expectations.

I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. Having to bear 100+ degree temperatures throughout the long summers growing up, much of my time was spent surfing the internet. Throughout my education, I participated in art classes, but my love for the visual medium didn’t solidify until I reached high school. By my sophomore year, I was indulging my interests by taking Computer Aided Drafting and Design and Television Production. I soon discovered that my focus in my drafting course shifted from drawing floorplans and orthographic projections to creating 3d animations for use in video projects. From there, I was hooked.

My interest in web design followed a similar path of development. I started by creating my own personal websites, complete with simplistic HTML and Javascript for annoying alerts, utilizing a free, ad-ridden hosting site. I quickly matured, both as a designer and web developer, and found myself creating more complex sites. The turning point was the creation of Funk Sandwich, a webcomic created by my colleagues and me. As I created this site, I learned how to work with CSS, XHTML, PHP and MYSQL. I also learned how to maintain a site, debug errors, custom write PHP queries for searching and retrieving data, and browser cross-compatibility. The sky became the limit, and I’ve found myself working in everything from static HTML sites to CMS solutions like WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla and even being part of teams developing custom web solutions for businesses of all sizes.
